Iran Launches Precision Missile Strikes on Israeli Intelligence Facilities

Iran missile strike Israel

June 17, 2025 — In a dramatic escalation of regional hostilities, Iran has launched a series of precision ballistic missile strikes targeting key Israeli intelligence installations. The strikes reportedly hit the Mossad headquarters and Unit 8200 facilities in Herzliya, as well as the Intelligence Directorate’s logistics center (Aman) in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the attacks were carried out using long-range precision-guided missiles and were aimed at crippling Israel’s intelligence infrastructure. Iranian state media confirmed the operation late Monday night, calling it a “strategic retaliation” against what it described as continued Israeli sabotage and covert operations on Iranian soil.

The Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency responsible for foreign espionage operations, was among the primary targets. The building in Herzliya reportedly sustained structural damage, though Israeli authorities have yet to confirm the extent of the impact or possible casualties.

Unit 8200, Israel’s elite signals intelligence and cyber warfare unit, was also targeted in the strikes. Often regarded as one of the most technologically advanced intelligence divisions in the world, Unit 8200 plays a critical role in intercepting enemy communications, monitoring cyber threats, and supporting Israeli defense operations. Damage to its base could have wide-reaching implications for national and regional security.

The Intelligence Directorate’s logistics center, located in Glilot, was the third major site hit. The facility supports operational logistics and coordinates intelligence dissemination across Israel’s military and strategic command. Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions in the early hours of Tuesday morning, followed by the presence of emergency response teams in the vicinity.

While Iran claimed responsibility and emphasized that the strikes were aimed solely at military targets, there has been no official statement from the Israeli government regarding the extent of the damage or the number of casualties, if any. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reportedly increased readiness along the northern and central regions and initiated a full-scale internal assessment.

Iranian officials described the attack as a “measured response” to alleged Israeli involvement in recent assassinations and sabotage incidents within Iran, including those linked to the country’s nuclear program. “This operation was carefully planned to demonstrate our capabilities without targeting civilians,” an Iranian defense ministry spokesperson said.

The international community has expressed concern over the potential for further escalation. The United Nations has called for restraint from both sides, urging diplomatic engagement to prevent a wider regional conflict.

If verified, this would mark the first time Iranian ballistic missiles have successfully struck high-value intelligence targets inside Israel — a development that could signal a shift in the longstanding shadow war between the two adversaries into more direct military confrontation.

Security experts warn that the coming days will be crucial, as Israel weighs its options for retaliation amid growing domestic and international pressure to respond decisively.
