Monsoon Death Toll in Himachal Pradesh Rises to 276

Himachal monsoon toll reaches 276

August 21,2025 — The cumulative monsoon death toll in Himachal Pradesh since June 20 has risen to 276, according to figures released by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA).

Of the total fatalities, 143 persons lost their lives in rain-related incidents, including landslides, flash floods, and house collapses. The remaining 133 deaths were reported in separate road accidents across the state during the same period.

Heavy rainfall has continued to trigger natural calamities in several districts. Landslides have blocked major roads, while flash floods have damaged residential structures, agricultural land, and public infrastructure. The state authorities have stated that relief and restoration work is underway in the affected regions.

The HPSDMA report further indicates widespread losses to property and livestock, with many families displaced due to the collapse of houses. Traffic disruptions have also hampered the movement of essential supplies and emergency services in rural areas.

The state government has issued advisories urging citizens to remain alert in vulnerable zones. District administrations have been instructed to monitor weather conditions closely and ensure timely evacuation in case of severe rainfall warnings.

Meanwhile, meteorological officials have forecast continued spells of rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh over the coming days, raising concerns of further incidents. Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to adhere to safety guidelines.

The rising toll highlights the recurring vulnerability of the hill state to monsoon-related disasters. Officials maintain that rescue and relief operations will continue until normalcy is restored in all affected regions.
