PM Modi Quit India tribute

August 9, 2025 – On the 83rd anniversary of the Quit India Movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the freedom fighters who played a pivotal role in India’s struggle for independence. In his tribute, the Prime Minister highlighted the courage and determination of those who participated in the movement launched in August 1942, which significantly accelerated India’s path to freedom.

The commemoration took place amid ongoing parliamentary sessions, where the government continues to address key legislative matters. Notably, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman withdrew the controversial Income Tax Bill in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The move was aimed at reworking the bill to address concerns raised by members across parties.

The revised Income Tax Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament on August 11. The Finance Ministry has assured that the new version will be more comprehensive and better aligned with the needs of taxpayers and the broader economy.

The Quit India Movement, initiated by Mahatma Gandhi, remains one of the most significant milestones in India’s independence journey. PM Modi’s tribute underscored the government’s commitment to honoring the legacy of India’s freedom fighters while focusing on current reforms to boost the country’s development.
