Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a major investment of ₹8,000 crore to expand its operations in India’s beverage sector. The move is aimed at boosting production capacity, building new bottling plants, and strengthening supply chain infrastructure under its consumer goods arm, Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL).
The investment comes amid a rapidly growing non-alcoholic beverage market in India, driven by increasing demand for packaged drinks and health-conscious products. RIL’s strategy will focus on both urban and rural markets through its existing distribution network and Reliance Retail stores.
RCPL has already entered the beverage space with brands like Campa Cola, Independence Cola, and fruit-based drinks. The company plans to scale up manufacturing units, introduce new variants, and invest in technology-led processing facilities.
The expansion is expected to create over 25,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly, across multiple states. Reliance has also committed to sourcing key ingredients such as sugar and fruit pulp from Indian farmers, aligning with the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
An RIL spokesperson stated that the investment underlines the company’s long-term vision to develop a robust Indian beverage ecosystem and offer consumers affordable, high-quality alternatives to global brands.
Market analysts predict that Reliance’s aggressive entry could disrupt the dominance of international players like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. Experts believe that the company’s extensive supply chain, pricing advantage, and rural reach could position it as a strong competitor in the Indian beverage industry.
The Indian non-alcoholic beverage market is projected to grow to $18 billion by 2030. Reliance’s investment will likely focus not only on traditional carbonated drinks but also on value-added products like energy drinks, flavored water, and functional beverages.
This marks another significant step by Reliance to diversify its FMCG portfolio and gain market share in daily consumer categories.
