SSC Phase‑13 Exams Cancelled Across Centres; 85 Lakh Aspirants Affected Nationwide

SSC exam centre chaos

July 30,2025:
Widespread outrage has erupted across the country after the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) abruptly cancelled the Phase‑13 Selection Post computer-based examinations at multiple centres due to administrative and technical failures. The sudden move has impacted nearly 85 lakh government job aspirants, many of whom had travelled long distances to appear for the crucial exams.

According to official statements issued by the SSC, the cancellations began on July 24, the first day of the examination cycle, which is scheduled to run until August 1, 2025. Affected candidates were notified just minutes before entering exam halls, triggering confusion and frustration at various locations.

Among the centres affected, the Pawan Ganga Educational Centre 2 announced the cancellation of all three exam days (July 24–26), citing “administrative reasons.” In Hubballi, the first shift of the exam at Educasa International was cancelled on July 24 due to “technical glitches,” SSC confirmed.

“The revised schedule of the cancelled examinations will be intimated to the candidates shortly through SMS, email, and notices on the SSC’s official website,” the commission said in a press release.

A significant portion of the criticism has been directed at the SSC’s decision to change its exam service provider. This year, Eduquity Career Technologies replaced Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the new vendor. Aspirants and education experts have blamed Eduquity’s “inefficiency and mismanagement” for the chaos at examination centres.

“Our dreams are not a joke,” wrote one aspirant on X, highlighting how years of preparation have been disrupted by administrative lapses. Others shared videos and photos of students stranded at examination centres, demanding accountability from both SSC and the private vendor.

Educational analysts have called for a transparent probe into the incident, with several student organisations urging the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions to intervene. Many are also demanding that SSC revert to more reliable and tested examination partners to prevent future disruptions.

This is not the first time SSC has faced backlash over exam conduct. Previous years have seen similar controversies over server crashes, delayed results, and poor grievance redressal.

As lakhs of aspirants await clarity on rescheduled dates, the SSC faces growing pressure to ensure fairness, restore trust, and implement robust safeguards in its recruitment processes.
