Renowned Bollywood actor and filmmaker Ajay Devgn met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday to explore the possibility of setting up a modern film production studio in the state. The proposal, if executed, could position Telangana as a major destination for film production in India.
The meeting, which took place at the Chief Minister’s official residence, focused on establishing a high-tech studio that would serve both national and regional film industries. Devgn outlined his vision of creating a facility equipped with state-of-the-art production stages, editing suites, sound recording areas, and training institutes for aspiring filmmakers and technicians.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the initiative and expressed the government’s willingness to support the project by providing necessary infrastructure and policy incentives. Officials indicated that Telangana could offer land support, streamlined approvals, and benefits under its existing media and entertainment policy.
“This is a step towards boosting the creative economy in Telangana. Such a studio will not only generate employment but also bring national and international projects to the state,” said a senior government official familiar with the proposal.
Hyderabad, home to several major production houses and the internationally known Ramoji Film City, is already a favored destination for Indian filmmakers. The addition of another world-class studio could enhance the city’s reputation as a production hub, especially as demand for regional and multilingual content continues to grow.
The proposed project is expected to benefit not just Bollywood but also industries in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and other Indian languages. Devgn, known for backing innovative ventures in cinema, sees Telangana as a strategic location with strong infrastructure and a skilled talent base.
Industry observers believe the move could open doors for greater collaboration between Mumbai and southern film industries. It also aligns with the broader trend of expanding production capabilities across India, rather than concentrating them in a single region.
While detailed project timelines, investment size, and the exact location are yet to be disclosed, both parties reportedly agreed to continue discussions in the coming weeks.
Ajay Devgn, who already owns production and VFX companies, has shown interest in advancing India’s media infrastructure. His meeting with the Telangana CM reflects his intent to invest in long-term projects that support the growth of Indian cinema.
